Maryland Live! Casino at Arundel Mills Mall

Located at the Arundel Mills Mall in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, the Maryland Live! Casino is one of the largest gaming, retail, and entertainment destinations in the Country with slot machines and electronic table games, designer and name brand shopping, live entertainment, and acclaimed restaurants. An interchange modification was necessary to accommodate the traffic projected to be generated by the Casino and to eliminate the weaving related issues between the signalized intersections under existing conditions. The Traffic Group designed a first-of-its-kind solution in Maryland that maintained the existing bridge structure and minimized traffic flow interruption during construction along MD 295 and Arundel Mills Boulevard. The Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) designed reduces congestion by allowing traffic to keep moving through an intersection. It improves safety by allowing free flowing turns when entering and exiting the roadway, eliminating the left turn against oncoming traffic and limiting the number of traffic signal phases. DDIs are easy to navigate and provide better sight distance at turns, resulting in fewer crashes.
