A major trucking route for the East Coast, Virginia needed to study specific trucking lanes along a 314-mile section of I-81 to ease traffic and ensure driver’s safety. The Traffic Group was tasked with determining the Origin and Destination (O&D) of trucks and cars on and off the Interstate. To accomplish this task, we utilized our $500,000 inventory of Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology and equipment to provide an Investment Grade study for VDOT to help them make a decision on the Truck study.
