The Grand Prix of Baltimore closed most of the downtown streets which resulted in impacts to all the local businesses in the Central Business District (CBD) plus it conflicted with Baltimore Orioles baseball games at Camden Yards.
The Grand Prix of Baltimore closed most of the downtown streets which resulted in impacts to all the local businesses in the Central Business District (CBD) plus it conflicted with Baltimore Orioles baseball games at Camden Yards. A detailed Maintenance of Traffic Plan and Pedestrian Safety Plan were required.
Perhaps the biggest challenge was determining how traffic was going to be rerouted around the downtown area for the Grand Prix race and ensuring that pedestrian movements were made safely.
The Traffic Group prepared the necessary plans and analyses to ensure movement of traffic and, most importantly, the movement of pedestrians through the CBD. We provided safe traffic control for all road closures and detours and traffic flow in and out of Baltimore City during race day operations went off without a hitch.
