In 2013, a Request for Information was issued to various interested parties regarding the feasibility of exchanging its current location for a new facility that would allow the FBI to consolidate into one location. Two potential sites were selected for consideration – suburban Maryland or suburban Northern Virginia. Maryland’s site is located at MD 202 and I-95 in the Landover area of Prince George’s County.

Locating 11,000 FBI employees into an area of Prince George’s County that already has some level of congestion ordinarily not acceptable to either the FBI or to local government was a challenge.

The Traffic Group undertook detailed traffic engineering and transportation planning studies for the Landover site and arrived at a set of off-site road improvements that were ultimately agreed upon for fundeing by either the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) or the Prince George’s County Government.
